Freebie toy etc.

Darwin got a freebie toy in the mail.
Trio toy is great. He already owns one truck trio set so he can connect this one to that and make a giant truck! (haha he happens to be wearing a truck shirt, too).

We also finished our craft house on a rainy day.
Some of the pieces are not there as you can see because he got frustrated at some point and ripped them. (Therefore, the crooked house).
This is actually for 6 years olds so I'm impressed by his dexterity and patience!

無料でもらったおもちゃと雨の日に二人で完成させたクラフトのお家です。
途中何個かピースを破ってしまったので、あるのでなんとか仕上げた結果、屋根が傾いてますがこれも味があっていいでしょ？
本当は小学校1年生用のおもちゃなので（本人がやりたい！と言うので買ったの）よーく忍耐強くやったな～と手先の器用さに感心しました。

9/11のメモリアルを兼ねて近くの消防署でイベントがありました。
毎日体を張って地域を守ってくれる方々と直接触れ合える貴重な時間を過ごしました。
消火に使われる器具や消防服も間近で見れて勉強になった。
実際に料理中の火事はどう起きるのかのデモもあり、ためになったし気をつけようと思ったよ。
子供がいる家庭はまず鍋の取っ手を奥へ回す事。火が出たら水はかけずに、火を消し蓋をする事だそう。
頭では分かっていても実際起きるとパニックになりそうなので、
もしものために頭でシュミレーションしておこう！

とは言っても、楽しい雰囲気で無料のアイスや消防帽を貰って、消防車に乗ったり、実際にホースで水を掛けたりと子供に
やさしいイベントでした。

やっぱり消防士はえらい仕事ですね。
そして皆さんなぜかイケメンぞろい（駄）。

お見苦しい写真で失礼します。

お昼寝時にベッドの下に何か発見。覗いてみると、おやつ。
何度問いただしても食べてない、チェルシーが食べた！の一点張り。
（ゴムで縛ってあったので、絶対犬ではない）。
最終的に漸く「数日前に歯磨きした後に食べた」と認めました。
食べたのはまあOK。
でも嘘をつくのが一番ダメだよ。
最近いたずらが巧妙で本当に心配です。
まあ逆に言えば、知恵が働く程脳が発達してきたって事。
ま、いっか。。。子育て、しつけのバランス。難しー。

I found sweets wrappers under his bed today.
He admitted hiding and eating them at night AFTER he was brushed, after denying and blaming on Chelsea multiple times...

New school starts!

涼しい季節と共に誠の新学期が始まりました。
月曜日が祝日だったので、火曜日からのスタート。
火曜から今度は毎日学校へ行くことになります。
こっちではPre-K(pre kindergarten)と言って日本でいう年中さんです。
誠は新しい環境に、ママは毎日の自由時間にうきうきです。
誠は動じる事なく新しいクラスへ飛び込んでいきましたが、不覚にもママは涙ぐんでしまいました。
子供ってあっという間に成長してしまいますね。
今日の朝は木々の葉っぱの色が少し黄色に変わっていました。
毎日少しずつ見えないようでも、確実に時間が過ぎていく。
この瞬間全てを記憶する脳が欲しいです！

こちらはもう寒いので長袖シーズンスタートです。

Darwin started at a new school.
I forgot my camera on the 1st and 2nd day so this picture is actually from the 3rd day :P
He is excited about the new school and I'm, too, excited about new freedom every day!
Darwin didn't cry at all, surprisingly, but today when I went to pick him up at school, they were just walking back into the building from the playground and having seen him in a single file behind teachers brought me tears.
He is definitely growing bigger and slowly flying away from his mommy!

Like mother like children!

やっぱり子は親を見て育ちますね。

My friend gave him a Japanese alphabet chart for bathroom wall.

Finally painting done

I'm finally done with painting the stair risers and spindles...

I also poly'd the bedroom floor because when I pulled off the dirty, old carpet off, the half of the floor were bare wood, no stain, no poly.
Andrew thinks there had been some kind of water damage and the previous owner installed new wood floor but never bothered to stain or apply polyurethane.
Now looking shiny and gleaming.

やっと階段のペンキ終わったー。
2日で終わったんだけどね。重い腰を上げるまでにね、1ヶ月以上かかったのさ。
ベッドルームの床にニスも塗ったよ。

15 month

知らない間に15ヶ月、過ぎてました。
健康で本当にありがたいです。
このままずっと元気に笑顔いっぱいで育ってね。

blueberry picking

もうすぐ夏休みが終わってしまう…ので暑いうちにママ友たちとブルーベリーを摘みに行ってきました。
猛暑だったけど、負けじと2キロちょいくらい摘んで帰ったよ。
たまたま誠の帽子が紛失中で水分補給と日陰でがんばったけど、やっぱり後半はぐったり…。
それでかおもちゃの取り合い中お友達を噛んじゃったの。
疲れてたんだよね。ほんとにごめんねー（反省）。

ちょい遠出だったので、帰りは二人の爆睡顔をバックミラーで拝みつつ、
ドライブを楽しみました。
久しぶりミスチルのHEROとか聞いて。
明日もがんばるぞー。

We went to Olcott to pick blueberries with our friends.
It was sunny and hot and perfect for picking blueberries under the sky.
I picked about 5 lbs worth of blueberries. Even the smallest ones were sweet.
I so enjoyed driving back listening to music and watching my kids sleep in the backseat.
My favorite kind of afternoon!

1st haircut

前髪が長くなってきたので、切りました！
パパには伸びるまで切らないで、と言われてたんだけどピンで止めても
取っちゃうのでこっそり日中やりました。
